Friday 2nd September – bike **** – Two rivers, Orwell to the Deben
including lunch at Landguarrd – sunny and hot:)
Walk **** Sunrise Felixstowe prom walk.
We woke early and could not get back to sleep so decided to walk down to
Felixstowe prom to check out the sunrise leaving home at 5.35. The sky was
lovely and red when we reached the beach and the pom lights were still on
but there was a bank of hazy cloud on the horizon so we were not sure if we
would see the sun as we walked towards The Fludgers. It was lovely and
quiet with just the odd dog walker, jogger, sup and swimmers and we made it
slowly to the end of the prom at Jacobs ladder just in time to see the sun
make an appearance:) We stayed for ages watching until the sun became too
bright so we headed back, up through the Spa gardens and home for a cuppa
in bed, wordle, read and sort out my pics time.
Bike ****
Busy morning, after the walk we both do our exercises then Mag heads to
Lidl then makes a huge crumble with all the blackberries she has collected
lately:) I then make a couple of yummy cheese and ham rolls and we set off
on our bikes for the pier at Landguard at 1.15. Taking the route through
Langer Park to Landguard nature reserve getting our favourite spot on the
old railway sleepers and the River Orwell is alive with boat action from
loads of yachts to a dredger with its support barges, a container ship
enters the river with three tugs as the polit boast returns, none stop,
entertaining us for ages. We have an adult gull being pestered by its baby
for dinner and a yacht with spinnaker flying gets hooted by the container
ship as it tried to cross the channel and had to wait for it to pass! Then
back to the prom with the beach fairly busy with families enjoying the warm
sunshine before the kids return to school next week! Mag heads for home
just past the pier while I continue to Felixstowe Ferry where some
youngsters are out on Pico’s enjoying a good breeze, probably enough to
foil but not at Felixstowe as it is high tide and difficult to get off the
beach! Then home the short route across the golf course and all done under
my own steam as my E-wheel battery was flat!
PS - just got a pic on BBC,s Look East :)
